Through the carving and shaping of clay I aim to echo the patterns and shapes found in organic forms such as seed pods, coral, or weathered rock. The work I create is inspired by the natural processes of growth, erosion, and transformation. Many of my pieces can be considered vessels, functional pottery meant to hold and serve, thus connecting the rituals of daily life to the enduring cycles of nature. These forms are mostly crafted from locally sourced clay, then thrown on the wheel to be altered and shaped by hand. The intentional marks of making become another natural force; hands shaping clay just as the wind, water, and time shape the earth. Each functional sculpture is therefore a meditation on creation itself, connecting their artistry to the natural forces that originally inspired them.
